FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything we’re asked most often about how SafeYield works, how safe it is, and what it costs.

Do I get my deposit back if the landlord goes bankrupt?

Yes. Your funds are segregated and never appear on the landlord’s balance sheet — they’re not part of the bankruptcy estate. That’s the fundamental difference between a traditional deposit and one held by SafeYield.

Is the displayed yield guaranteed?

No. The yield is variable, not guaranteed, and depends on short-term money-market rates at the time the funds are placed. The figure shown in the calculator is an indicative estimate, not a locked-in amount.

Who decides if there’s a dispute over the refund?

Neither you nor the landlord can release the funds alone. If there’s a disagreement, an independent mediator reviews the case before any decision is made.

Is SafeYield a bank or a credit institution?

No. SafeYield is not a credit institution and doesn’t offer bank accounts. It’s a trusted third party that holds deposits on behalf of others, currently in private beta.

How much does SafeYield cost for an individual?

Nothing. SafeYield earns its revenue through a commission taken on the return generated by the invested funds, never on the amount of your deposit.

How much does SafeYield cost for a business?

Integration is free for the landlord. SafeYield earns revenue only through the return generated by the invested funds.

What types of deposits can be held on SafeYield?

Deposits for housing, bikes or scooters, appliances, tools, event equipment, or rentals between individuals — any security deposit paid before a rental can go through SafeYield.

Where are the funds held?

In Europe. The funds are segregated, never mixed with the landlord’s or SafeYield’s cash, and never transferred outside the European Union.

Is SafeYield available in my country?

SafeYield is currently in private beta and is rolling out progressively across France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Italy, Spain, and Portugal.

How do I join the beta?

By filling out the form on the Beta page: a few details about the type of deposit that concerns you are all it takes to sign up.
